Citibank will trained 2,000 youths as their CSR

Mumbai:Citibank will give training to 2,000 youths as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Under this pilot project in Maharashtra, youth will be imparted with skill development department in the banking and financial sector.

A Citibank Centre was launched on Friday to train 1300 youth in its first phase in Thane. Another such center is expected to be launched in Pune which targets to train 700 youth.  Giving information on the training program at the launch skill development minister SambhajiPatilNilangekar said, “We are thankful to our partners like Citibank who are taking initiatives to train the unemployed youth of the state under CSR.

Maharashtra has been leading in the skilling sector and with the tremendous support from private sectors and their proactive approach we are now hopeful that there will be better employment opportunities for the youth in time to come.”

From its CSR funds, Citibank has allocated Rs 2 crores to train a total of 2000 unemployed youth at its Thane and Pune centers. It also aims at 100 percent placements from this batch in banking and financial sector.

“We welcome such contributors who understand the importance of skilling and are keen to work towards making youth skilled and employable. We have invited proposals from corporates for such CSR activities related to skilling in various sectors,” added Nilangekar. Along with the Inter- collegiate presentation on Need of Skill Development, the event had speakers who spoke on importance of skilling for students and organizations.

Training partner Edubridge along with NGO Udyogini have joined hands with Citibank for this project. Girish Singhania, Prashant Sawant, Chandra shekhar Marathe were also present at the launch.
