Harshita Dahiya, 22,years old folk singer and dancer was shot dead on Tuesday evening when she was returning home in a car after a programme at Chamrara village in Israna block of Panipat district.
An unknown assailants who came in a car, fired 5-6 bullets at her before fleeing the spot. The deceased, permanently from Nahra-Nahri village of Sonipat district but she used to live at Narela in Delhi.
Rahul Sharma, Superintendent of Police in Panipat said, “we suspect assailant might be a gangster named Dinesh, who had the role in this murder. Dinesh is also an accused of many criminal cases and is currently lodged in Tihar jail of Delhi. He is brother-in-law of deceased folk singer”.
Dinesh is also accused of deceased mother’s murder. Harshita was a witness in her mother’s murder case and she had accused him of raping her. But we are not ruling out other theories also,” Sharma said.
Social media sources said, “Harshita’s life was in danger and she had uploaded it on YouTube as a live video. At the time of incident she was accompanied by a male singer, Pradeep who is from Rathdhana village of Sonipat district”.
According to Sandeep, car driver, when they were between Chamrara and Kakoda villages, a black car overtook their vehicle and forced them to stop later two men came out from the car and forcedly took male singer, driver and her assistant out of the car and started firing at Harshita. After firing 5-6 bullets on her body they ran away from the spot and left all those who were with her without any harm.
Sharma said, “we have got some clues and we are working on”. The police have recovered five blank cartridges from the spot and capped as evidence. Deceased body has been sent to the mortuary at Panipat’s government hospital. The police have registered a murder case on a complaint filed by Pradeep.
