Heavy rains slowdown Mumbai

INDIA METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT . Ajay Kumar, Scientist (IMD) Mumbai said rainfall will decrease, but light to moderate rainfall to continue in Mumbai region.

As per the information of India meteorological department Maharashtra Education Minister Vinod Tawde declared Holidays to Schools and colleges till 21, Sep, 2017 in view of the heavy rainfall. “Schools are instructed to remain close tomorrow for safety due to mixed predictions and this holiday will be compensated in Diwali,” tweeted Education Minister.

The incessant downpour has affected rail, flight and bus services in the financial city of India.

According to IMD forecast Mumbai will face the heavy rains for next 24 hours rains in coming days.

On Tuesday Mumbai city recorded 210 mm rainfall, suburb recorded 303 mm rainfall. As per IMD heavy rain is 204.5 mm but this has cross the limit of heavy rain as it was 303 mm in Mumbai second highest in September with in last 12 hours, BMC officials said.

Due to heavy rains thunder and lightning lashed the metropolis yesterday and slowing down movement of vehicular traffic even today.

The lifeline of Mumbai ‘dabbawalas’ who look after the over two lakh lunch box has cancelled their delivery as most of the lunch box delivery men use suburban trains to ensure the lunch boxes reach their destination on time.
