The crime branch which is probing the rioting that took place in Byculla women’s jail on June 24 following the alleged murder of an inmate, claims to have CCTV footage showing celebrity undertrial Indrani Mukherjee snatching a Mike from the jailor and instigating fellow prisoners to stage a protest.
Indrani Mukherjee, prime accused in the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora, was among 150 inmates who stormed their way to the prison’s terrace in a bid to publicize their grievances about conditions within. The stir broke out after news spread in the jail that convict ManjulaShetye, who was serving a life term for murder, had died hours after being stripped and beaten by prison staff.
