Honorable Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam passed away while giving lectures to students at IIM-Shillong on July 27, 2015

Today is second memorial day of the popular late President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam. Abdul Kalam was born on October 15, 1931 in Rameshwar in Tamil Nadu. He was the president of the people.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was known as the Missile Man of the country. His lifelong passion is inspiring to many. Dr. Kalam’s life has been a great model. On July 27, 2015, Kalam passed away while giving a lecture to the students at IIM-Shillong.

Abdul Kalam’s full name was Abul Pakir Zainulabadin Abdul Kalam.

Abdul Kalam was known by India’s Missile Man, the President of the people. He was honored with Padma Bhushan, Padmabhishan and Bharat Ratna for the highest civilian award.

After taking a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology, he started working in DRDO (Defense Research Development Organization). He designed the helicopter for the Indian Army.

Kalam got the opportunity to work under the famous space scientists Vikram Sarabhai in the initial phase of his career. In 1963, Kalam visited NASA’s world’s leading space research institute. After that he started work on PSLV and SLV-3. Both of these projects were successful.

– During India’s immediate Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure, the country tested another atomic bomb at Pokhran. In this trial, Kalam played an important role. After this test, people recognized them as the leading nuclear scientist in the country.

In the period between 1992 and 1999, Abdul Kalam was the Chief Scientific Advisor to the Prime Minister of the country. He played an important role both on political and technical fronts during the Pokhran nuclear test.

– BJP-led National Democracies Movement made him the Presidential candidate in 2002. He was sworn in as the country’s 11th President on June 25.

Kalam had prepared a plan to run all the lights in the Rashtrapati Bhawan. But before the implementation of this scheme, their term expired. He thought that India should take the support of atomic energy and biophysic technology to meet its energy needs without solar energy.

– He was instrumental in the technique of fire and earth missile manufacturing.

– Abdul Kalam wanted to have children.  He always said,”These young children are tomorrow’s future. So he spent most of the time with the kids and Answered their curious questions.”

– When Dr. Kalam was elected for the post of President, free air travel tickets were available for his relatives in the oath ceremony. But Dr. Kalam was such a person who did not use his position for any personal work. He brought his relatives to the swearing-in through railway to Delhi.

– Kalam had refused to install a broken glass building. It was for fashion. Kalam had denied this advice, saying that the birds would have been damaged.

When suddenly speaking to 400 students, suddenly there was power. But in our discussion, if there is no hindrance anywhere in the discussion, Dr. Kalam intervened with the students in the entire row and kept up his talk.
