UGC prepared a draft law to prevent duplication of Doctrine Degree.

To prevent duplication and to stop copying in PhD as well as higher education the Central Grants Commission (UGC) has drafted a law. In the draft, suggestions have been sought from the people till September 30.

There is a provision of punishment to the students for duplication and copying his/her thesis and research. UGC said if the law is made in accordance with this draft, research and higher education students will not be able to duplicate previous research. This initiative is being done by the UGC to promote higher education.

The UGC had constituted a committee to promote research and promotion of higher education and to prevent duplication in research. After this, the committee prepared a draft after all the studies. In this draft, there has been talk of creating an arrangement to prevent duplication in research, in which it will be seen that if a student’s thesis meets the students of any pre-researches, then examine them and instruct the students to re-write. . There are three levels in it.

At the first level, the students who have their thesis get 10 to 40% of the pre-researches. They will be given six months to remove the duplicated portion and to make a revised copy. In the second level, students who have duplicated more than 40 to 60 percent and in the third level, more than 60 percent of the students will be kept.

Students of the second grade will be given maximum 18 months’ time to submit the revised copy, but the students who are found to be duplicate in more than 60 pieces in their thesis will be cancelled. Vinod Malale, Public Relations Officer of the University of Mumbai, said that after the implementation of this draft, new research will be encouraged in higher education.
