Speaking against the current government is a major task for anyone which includes a journalist who has constitutional rights to show facts in mass. Freedom of press is a gift of the constitution to the public but this was in Old India. In the current era, you can’t follow the same as it is concealed under the power of current government.

Earlier freedom of the press was never compromised. It is now 3.5 years the freedom of the press is compromised with the current government of the country.

It seems that Journalism has been lost its strength under the power of government. For example, N Ram, who is a chairman of “the Hindu” stated “The “war” against the NDTV group is “motivated” because of its coverage of the Gujarat riots of 2002”. He also added that the present government has learned the art of “targeting” its political opponents as well as the media.

As always the government has denied investigation against NDTV is due to any vendetta and said it is an off-shoot of continuing investigations by the Income Tax Department and Enforcement Directorate since 2011. The government targeting a media house is as “bad” as a corrupt deal, “if not worse.” He was also severely critical of demonetization. “What was said and what was achieved? Politically it seemed to have delivered some dividends to the ruling party,” he said.

“I stand with Mr. N. Ram and also appreciate his voice to encourage media people. I don’t deny corruption in media but it is just a gift of politics”, said Dr. Massey.
