BMC will pay JJ arts school students ₹15 crore to design Textile museum in Mumbai

The civic body will sign a contract with the school to prepare a vision document for the museum and design the interiors and Students of JJ School of Arts will work with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as consultants for construction of an iconic Rs300-crore textile museum in Mumbai.

This plan held for eight years and now the museum was proposed, the BMC started work on the textile museum which will be spread over 10 acres, and will be constructed at United Mills, at Kalachowkie.

So the civic body will sign a contract with the student of  JJ Arts who will prepare a vision document for the museum and design the interiors. The students have been roped in at a cost of Rs 15 crore.

A civic official said, “As the museum is planned on a mill compound, we want a to recreate old culture which will attract young crowd. The students will be able to help with that.”

Now the proposal has been tabled before BMC’s standing committee on Tuesday for further.
