Mumbai: Two constables Chandrakant Gavare and Santosh Gavas, who were arrested in connection with Borivali diamond heist case, have been suspended, confirmed a senior officer from Mumbai police. They were arrested on Wednesday for robbing a Borivali-based jeweler Jayesh Zaveri.
The police have arrested Pranay Shah and Sujata Gaurkar in this case and produced them before Borivali magistrate court that has sent them into police custody till August 5. “Both the policemen came to my shop with a person, Raj, pretending to solve a robbery case. One of them was in uniform,” said Zaveri.
After carrying out the a raid, the policemen seized the diamond and bundled Zaveri and Raj into their vehicle to take them to Police Commissioner ate, Crawford market to check if the diamond is original. But the policemen dropped Zaveri midway at Rajendra Nagar in Borivali east and asked him to reach Crawford market in the evening. The further investigations are underway.
