AHIL’S CAROUSEL CAKE
Salman Khan’s kid sister Arpita pulled out the big guns for her baby’s first birthday this March. Made with yummy fondant and 24-carat gold detailing, Ahil’s cake wasn’t just beautiful, mom Arpita insists it was also the best she has ever tasted. Delivered in the Maldives, it was made by Toronto-based cake artist Alexandria Pellegrino at the Cake Opera Co. — talk about a global gig!
RANDHIR KAPOOR’S BOOZY BAKE
This wasn’t the biggest celebrity birthday cake we’ve seen in recent months, but it certainly brought the biggest smile to our faces! Made by the good folks at Love Sugar and Dough as requested by Karisma and Kareena Kapoor, the cake was inspired by a bottle of our favourite tipple. It also came inscribed with an adorable message: “From all the loves of your life: Samaira, Kiaan, Taimur, Lolo, Bebo, Mom and above all Black Label!!!” Cheers to that.
SONAM KAPOOR’S COUTURE CAKE
As a shout-out to Sonam’s style, the team at Pooja Dhingra’s Studio Fifteen crafted a couture cake for the fashionista’s 29th birthday. Inspired by a Dolce & Gabbana dress she wore during the Cannes Film Festival in 2013, this cake was as chic as they come!
MANISH MALHOTRA’S CUPCAKE TOWER
When B-town’s favourite fashion designer turned 50, how could we expect anything less than golden glamour? From the gorgeous guests in attendance to Manish’s mouth-watering five-tier cupcake-loaded confection, it was all that and more. We’re not sure who to credit for the towering treat, but we can tell you Raveena Tandon and Kajol were excited by it.
BIPASHA AND KARAN’S ‘BIG DAY’ CAKE
Wedding cakes are expectedly larger than life, so the size of Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover’s ‘big day’ cake isn’t the reason it finds mention on our list. What we loved about their classic cake (apart from its delicate details and exquisite edible roses) was the unique cake topper. The bride and groom monkeys were created especially for Bips and her main man, because the monkey motif is a bit of an inside joke for the couple. Aww-dorable!
