Mumbai: Man killed for Rs:125 only

The Saki Naka police have arrested 4 men for beating a man to death on Sunday. The police arrested the four youths for allegedly killing a 40-year-old man following an argument over payment of Rs 125 for an ice-cream.

The incident:

On Sunday, at around 8.20pm, three brothers, Mujahid Sultan (23), Mobin and Jahid had stepped out to buy ice-cream, which led to them Sainath dairy at Andheri.According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the Sainath Dairy’s storekeeper denied them ice-cream as they owed him Rs 125 for past purchases. After denying them ice-cream, which led to an argument, the trio also threatened to assault the shopkeeper. Muzammil Shaikh (40), who was passing by, heard the argument and intervened.A big scuffle followed. The brothers and a friend Shoaib Siddiqui ganged up against Shaikh and beat him up with a wooden baton. Then another by stander, Abdul Mohammed Shah, and tried to break up the fight, but was beaten up as well.

Shah sustained minor injuries, but Shaikh collapsed and was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar where he was declared dead.

The arrest:

According to a report in Asian Age, four youth were a part of the 10-member gang and were arrested after an hour of the incident.

The police arrested Mujahid Sultan (23), Shahid Sultan (21), Mobin Sultan (30) and Shoaib Siddiqui,  and booked them sections 302 (murder) and 144 (unlawful assembly armed with deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly pursuing a common object) and 145 (joining an unlawful assembly), Senior police inspector of Saki Naka police told Asian Age.
