4,500 MBBS ‘Jhola Chhap’ Doctors

The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) have declared 4.500 doctors of Maharashtra are ‘Jhola Chhap’. Out of 4500 doctors 2,500 doctors are fresh MBBS graduates doctors from Mumbai’s medical colleges.

According to Directorate of Medical Education and Research these doctors have been considered as ‘Jhola Chhap’ due to breaking a law signed by them during admission in medical which is mandatory one year in rural areas.

DEMER has prepared a list of 4,500 doctors who have not got one year mandatory service in rural areas after getting MBBS degree. They have not even given a penalty as well.

Every doctor of Maharashtra has to register with the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) in every five years. These 4,500 doctors violated their rural service bonds, so their registration has been cancelled.

Medical students graduating from government schools have to signed the bond to work on primary health centre in a village for at list one year within the five years of getting MBBS degree.

If they do not complete the Bond, they have to pay the penalty of ₹10 lakh and if they are MBBS doctor, ₹50 lakh for postgraduates doctors and ₹2 crore for super-specialty doctors.
