BMC Doctors postponed operations

BMC Doctors of KEM, Sion, Nair hospital are avoiding operations even after giving the date of surgery every day. It is found that due to shortage of clothes in the operation theatres during surgery. However, the administration is claiming that they have solved this problem.

Corporator Ashraf Azmi, who brought out this problem said, “during the operation 3-4 bedsheets and towels, apron approximately 10 to 12 clothes are needed in operation and hospital washes almost 10,000 clothes daily and after washing, the clothes come late almost double of the time due to lack of machines and workers in the laundry”.

The budget of BMC’s is more than ₹ 25,000 crore comes in to four major hospitals of BMC and 18 Peripheral Hospitals. If you see statistics, it is more than one lakh small operations took place in a year. The situation is that 6 bundle clothes are sent which return with one bundle.

Yashwant told that he was called for surgery then reschedules twice and later carried it out on Tuesday.

Ashok, a husband of other patient told that hospital has given the date for wife’s surgery but last two weeks they are postponing, on third Wednesday they operated my wife.

Kanhaiya Kumar 56-year-old (name changed) who came to KEM Hospital from Palghar for treatment as he was suffering from pain in stomach. After the investigation, they were advised to conduct the operation and called on Monday. When he reached the hospital on Monday, hospital asked to come Monday day but they till Tuesday evening they have not operated.
