After wrested the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat from BJP, it is declared by Congress on Sunday that BJP policies brought them into a dark future for upcoming election in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh as well other state of India.
The Congress candidate, Sunil Jakhar becomes the call bell of the party leaders and worker after his victory with record margin of 1.93 lakh votes. As Congress Sunil Jakhar polled 4,99,752 votes and BJP Swaran Singh Salaria, 3,06,553 votes, Aam Aadmi Party Suresh Khajuria, polled 23,579 votes, and lost his security deposit.
After seeing this great victory of Congress Jakhar, Salaria and Khajuria charge Congress for using state machinery for the victory, so Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh denied all the charges before the media at Chandigarh.
This election was the prestige issue for both the party BJP and Congress, as congress had won the Assembly election earlier and BJP who has a proud for his popularity and policy.
According to rumours public are tired by seeing the policy of BJP and called it out as two & half people government. Also added we have seen the shower of blessing and gift before the election in state which does not have reflection on ground level.

Punjab CM Amarinder congratulate Jakhar on his great victory and told the media in Chandigarh, “The massive win for the Congress shows complete denunciation of the corrupt and immoral BJP and SAD by the people. People have shown their anger against demonetisation and GST by making Jakhar MP of Gurdaspur Punjab.” Emphasising that people want development and that they realise only the Congress can deliver that”, Amarinder said.
Jakhar won in all 10 Assembly segments that come under Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency. In the Assembly election, the party had won eight of the 10 seats.
“People were angry with Sukhbir Badal and Bikram Singh Majithia. They have shown their anger against these two leaders,” Jakhar said.
Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is also a minister in Amarinder cabinet, blamed alleged corruption by SAD president and former deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal and his brother-in-law former cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia for the BJP’s defeat. He said, “It is the defeat of jija-saala (brothers-in-law). People have shown them their place. Now both have become burden on BJP. Such a huge defeat is evidence of this.”
