Rain disrupts train schedules, many areas water-logged

On Monday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded more than 50mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours. Areas of Santacruz, Colaba, Borivali, Ghatkopar received good rainfall. IMD officials said a synoptic situation, which includes an offshore turf and a low-pressure area, has been formed along the coast of Maharashtra and Bay of Bengal.

“The presence of a good weather system has resulted in heavy rainfall in the city. The Santacruz observatory has recorded more than 50 mm of rainfall until 8.30pm on Monday. We have predicted heavy rain for the next five days,” said KS Hosalikar, Deputy Director-General, western region at IMD.

Meanwhile, on Monday, heavy rainfall delayed train services on both Central and Harbour lines by 20 minutes in the evening.  Water-logging was reported at areas like Bail Bazar, Halav Bridge, SonapurJunction, Kurla. At least two feet deep water was seen on the road. The Andheri subway was also shut causing inconvenience to users.
