The government of India, The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a show-cause notice to 6000 NGOs. These 6000 NGOs have not filed their annual returns from the financial year 2010-11 to 2014-15, despite all the efforts of the tax department. It is a matter of fact that in the list of these 6,000 NGOs released by the ministry, dozens of names will be used by the names of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and the name of the author BabasahebBhimrao Ambedkar.

According to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation), Act 2010 (FCRA) and Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Rules 2011, all the NGOs working in the country who fund foreign funds are required to pay their annual returns within 9 months of the completion of every financial year. It is compulsory to file. Earlier, the Central Government had issued a notice to all such NGOs for one month and filed a return of these three years as soon as possible. Apart from this, a warning was issued to all NGOs on behalf of the Department through letters, e-mails, and SMS.

Now, these six thousand NGOs from the Home Ministry have been asked to issue Show Cause Notice why their FCRA registration should be cancelled with immediate effect. The NGOs have been given 15 days time to answer this cancelled use notice of the Home Ministry and in spite of this, if any NGO does not provide adequate answers, then its FCRA registration will be canceled.
