The Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) is at work to implement intelligent transportation system (ITS) and is all set to introduce digital ticketing and smart card facility for commuters.
NMMT officials said it would be implemented in the next two months.
Addl. municipal commissioner AnkushChavan said, “We have already started some features of the ITS. These include the control room and the mobile NMMT bus tracker app.”
A control room for implementation of ITS has been set up at NMMC headquarters in CBD Belapur.
It has been set up to monitor the details of its buses running daily on 63 routes. Municipal commissioner Ramaswamy N had instructed officials to ensure optimum use of its buses. The NMMT is spending Rs6.5 crore for ITS which will enable various state-of-the-art systems, digital ticketing, card swiping facility, digital app and so on.
