The filmmaker and Actor-Prakash Raj has minced the Modi government and kicked up a storm while criticising for its silence on shocking violent incidents of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh.

He slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for following certain individuals on Twitter, who celebrated the murder of Gauri, who was Prakash’s close friend. He even took a swipe at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who has sort of taken a break from his public office, to perform the rituals as the temple head priest of Gorakhnath temple.

Prakash said: I think people in power are better actors than the actor who plays role on screen. I feel like giving them all my five prestigious National Awards.

Prakash’s explosive remarks have become a hotly debated topic on social media with many questioning his credentials to criticise the Modi government. Many may even ask should his comments be taken seriously at all.

Born in Bengaluru, Prakash dominated Karnataka’s theatre scene before making his big screen debut. He has apparently given 2,000 street theatre performances during his early days as a stage actor.

The South Indian film industry is yet to find a worthy actor who can give Prakash a run for his money when comes to playing villain roles on the big screen. He has also excelled in performing character roles in films helmed by renowned filmmakers such as Mani Ratnam and Priyadarshan. He has five National Awards to his credit, including best actor, best supporting actor and best film.

Besides Kannada Prakash, can fluently speak Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Hindi, and English. His major break came in Tamil when he was launched by legendary director K. Balachander with Duet in 1994. And he has remained the most-sought-after actor in the South Indian film industry for more than two decades.

In real life, Prakash is a man with a social conscience and carrying out various humanitarian efforts through Prakash Raj Foundation and the most important achievements of his charity is his developmental works in the drought-hit village, Kondareddypalli, in Mahabubnagar district in Telangana.

Prakash Raj makes the life of the people better in the village through his charity by constructing good roads, toilets in every household, supplying drinking water, digging borewells.  Earlier this year, he also took part in the protest held by Tamil Nadu farmers at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
