Mumbai: Special TADA court had sentenced Riyaz Siddiqui (67) to life imprisonment in the builder Pradeep Jain murder case today.

On Thursday he was also sentenced to ten years imprisonment for his role in the 1993 Bombay bomb blasts case.

On August 31, the special Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) court had found Siddiqui guilty for the murder. Ujjwal Nikam Special public prosecutor said this is not rarest of rare case to warrant the death sentence. “The accused acted as a mediator on behalf of Abu Salem and Anees Ibrahim who wanted to purchase the property. Life imprisonment would meet the ends of justice.”

Siddiqui was co-convict in the blasts case of 1993 with gangster Abu Salem, and is serving a life sentence for the 1995 murder after being found guilty in 2015. On March 7, 1995, Pradeep was murdered at his Juhu office. Sunil Jain, his brother, was an eyewitness to the murder and suffered injuries in the attack.

For Murdering Jain, Hitmen hired by Salem carried out the killing and pumped in 17 bullets in Jain’s body. Besides Salem, in 2015 the same court held Mehendi Hassan (50), a former driver, guilty for the murder while holding rival builder VK Jhamb (86) guilty of only extortion.
