Two ‘wanted’ robbers held by Thane police

Mumbai: Two history-sheeters, who were on the hit list of wanted persons for robbery, house break-ins and thefts were arrested by the Thane police on Wednesday.

Anwar Hussain Abdul Rashid Shaikh (27) and Mohammed Ali Mallick Shaikh (23), who were on the hit list of the Thane police, as per the directions of ParamBir Singh, the Thane Police Commissioner have been arrested. Twenty-four mobile phones worth Rs 2.4 lakh have been seized by the police. The accused were wanted for nearly seventy cases of burglaries in Thane, Navi Mumbai and western suburbs and central region. They were also wanted by the Naupada, Manpada, Ram Nagar, Khandeshwar, Sion and Dahisar police.

Anwar and Mohammad were wanted by the Daighar police in two house break-ins conducted in April this year. Based on a tip-off the accused were arrested from Anwar’s residence at Kamlabaichawl at Thakur Pada in Dahisar. Mohammed is a native of Kolkata. As per the police, the duo would keep changing their locations in Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh and Kolkata.
